Students choosing to enrol in this qualification must be completed before the 20th January 2023 or will need to transition to the new qualification.
Overview
This qualification reflects the role of early childhood educators who are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum in early childhood education and care services. In doing so they work to implement an approved learning framework within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard.
They may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other staff.
This qualification is made up of 28 units (23 core, 5 elective) which reflect the needs of industry
Entry requirements
- Valid USI
- Working with Children Card
- Completed LLN Assessment
- Access to a registered child care service to complete the minimum required 240 hours (can be employment, work placement or volunteer)
Duration & Delivery
The guideline for duration is 6 months – 3 years however, training is self-paced, and duration depends on the individual learner, their employment situation and enrolment type. Credit transfer and RPL options may also reduce the overall time taken to complete the course.
This qualification can be provided through a Traineeship or Fee For Service arrangement. Students may also be eligible for RPL entry.
Training is delivered on site at a nominated registered child care service. Site visits are conducted monthly and can also be scheduled more frequently to suit the needs of the learner.
First Aid
If a student presents a Statement of Attainment for the unit HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting gap training will be required to be completed before the unit HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting can be awarded. Gold Start staff will assist students with gap training options.
