CHC50113 – Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care

Overview

This qualification reflects the role of early childhood educators who are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum in early childhood education and care services. In doing so they work to implement an approved learning framework within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard.

They may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other staff.

This qualification is made up of 28 units (23 core, 5 elective) which reflect the needs of industry

Entry requirements

  • Valid USI
  • Working with Children Card
  • Completed LLN Assessment
  • Access to a registered child care service to complete the minimum required 240 hours (can be employment, work placement or volunteer)

Duration & Delivery

The guideline for duration is 6 months – 3 years however, training is self-paced, and duration depends on the individual learner, their employment situation and enrolment type. Credit transfer and RPL options may also reduce the overall time taken to complete the course.

This qualification can be provided through a Traineeship or Priority Industry Training pathway. Students may also be eligible for RPL entry. Fee for Service options are also available.

Training is delivered on site at a nominated registered child care service. Site visits are conducted monthly and can also be scheduled more frequently to suit the needs of the learner.
